2025–Present

Staff AI Engineer

Remote · WEX HQ Portland, ME

Agentic SDLC orchestration platform
Chronon feature engineering platform
Real-time fraud detection systems
Multi-terabyte data pipelines

I architect an internal developer platform to automate the software development lifecycle, including Skill Agents and MCP (Model Context Protocol) integrations for automated code generation, PR orchestration, and intelligent system interfacing.

I lead implementation of the Chronon feature engineering platform, designing real-time feature materialization pipelines that power fraud detection and credit decisioning models.

I run multi-terabyte data pipelines on Apache Spark, EKS, and EMR Serverless, tuning for low-latency delivery and predictable performance across distributed infrastructure.

Building the AI infrastructure layer from offline data science to production-grade engineering. Establishing team standards for JVM and Python infrastructure and agentic developer workflows.

Outcomes

2024–2025

Staff Software Engineer

Remote · Outcomes HQ Orlando, FL · hybrid Quincy, MA

Shipped to production; 10,000+ pharmacy-scale architecture
Built for Rx30 and PrescribeWellness integration
Medication search via PostgreSQL full-text search
Hired at Staff level

Hired at Staff level to lead greenfield architecture for a pharmacy data platform aimed at nationwide scale (10,000+ pharmacies), supporting existing Outcomes products including Rx30 and PrescribeWellness. Medication and formulary discovery used PostgreSQL full-text search, with Vue and React frontends for different product surfaces.

Shipped to production and validated the architecture for target scale, but Rx30 and PrescribeWellness did not adopt the changes as planned. Shifting internal priorities and org politics led to the program being cut during broader team reductions. Mentored junior engineers and drove engineering standards across the team.

Microservices platform engineering
Distributed backend systems at scale

Chewy is headquartered in Plantation, Florida. I worked hybrid out of HQ2 in Boston, shipping backend systems alongside distributed teams.

Led microservices platform work at one of the largest pet retail companies in the US, establishing technical patterns across distributed teams.

QHR Technologies (Accuro EMR)

2018–2022

Technical Lead

Kelowna, BC, Canada (in person)

35+ rotating developers managed
2018–2022 second stint on Accuro EMR
Thousands of clinics nationwide
HL7/FHIR interoperability

Return to QHR and Accuro EMR after Kronos (UKG), 2018–2022 in Kelowna as Technical Lead, managing 35+ rotating developers across product teams. Deep healthcare interoperability (HL7, FHIR) and architecture leadership; shipped features directly into clinical workflows.

This chapter drove home what it means to build software where bugs aren’t bugs; they’re patient safety incidents. That weight never left me.

Kronos (UKG)

2017–2018

Software Engineer

Enterprise workforce management (Kronos-era product)
In person, Kelowna, BC

2017–2018. Between two QHR chapters, I worked in person in Kelowna for Kronos Canadian Systems, the Canadian dba of Kronos, now UKG. Enterprise workforce management at a different scale than EMR; same city as Accuro, different product surface entirely.

Software Engineer → Technical Lead

Accuro EMR, QHR's product
2013–2017 first stint on Accuro
HL7/FHIR interoperability

First era at QHR on Accuro EMR, QHR’s EMR platform, in Kelowna. Grew from software engineer toward Technical Lead, shipping clinical workflow features and interoperability work (HL7, FHIR) for clinics nationwide.

This chapter set the foundation for the healthcare engineering mindset that never left: in EMR, bugs are patient safety incidents.

Early Era: IRC, Graal Online & the Internet

2000–2011

Self-taught Developer

Various

First IRC scripts circa 2000
Graal Online scripting & modding
Self-taught before Stack Overflow existed

Before formal education, before bootcamps, before Stack Overflow, there was IRC and Graal Online. Writing scripts as a kid because the internet was a place where you could make things, and making things was magic.

This is where the bug bit. Not the programming bug, the this is what I want to do with my life bug. The internet was wide open and anything was possible if you were willing to figure it out.

I learned to code the way most of my generation did: breaking things, reading source, asking questions in forums, and building small tools that solved small problems. By the time I had my first professional job, I’d already been coding on my own for nearly a decade, self-taught, long before the Canada or Accuro chapter.
